Somatic Experiencing Brooklyn- In Person Sessions

SOMATIC THERAPY BROOKLYN

It’s like Talk Therapy— but for the Body

Work with your nervous system to release what’s stuck and reconnect with yourself from the inside out.

You’ve done the self-reflection. Maybe you’ve journaled, gone to therapy, or named your patterns. But if you still feel stuck—or like change only goes so far—somatic therapy Brooklyn offers a new entry point. It invites your body into the process, because lasting transformation doesn’t happen from insight alone.

This work is about learning how to listen to what your body is holding—tension, emotion, stress—and finding new ways to move through it, not just talk about it.

What is Somatic Therapy Brooklyn?

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to healing. The word soma means the living body in its wholeness—not just your physical body, but your felt sense of aliveness, experience, and inner world. This work helps you tune into what your body is holding—tension, emotion, memory—and begin to shift it from the inside out.

If you’ve tried talking it through but still feel stuck, this work helps you engage healing at the level of your body—where so much of our history and resilience lives.

Many of us live in our heads, trying to think our way through problems. But real change happens when we include the body—because that’s where our nervous system lives, and where so many of our patterns begin.

In somatic therapy Brooklyn, we slow down and listen for what’s happening underneath the surface: a racing heart, a tight chest, a sense of collapse or urgency. You don’t need to analyze it—we’ll follow the body’s cues together. As you begin to build awareness and safety in your system, you may notice more space, more choice, and a deeper sense of connection to yourself.

Somatic therapy isn’t about doing more. It’s about coming home to yourself—slowly, gently, and in good company.

Somatic Therapy Sessions

What happens in a session

Each session is a slow unfolding—we follow your system, not a script.

Our work begins with a moment to land—helping you arrive in your body and in the moment. From there, we follow what’s present: a sensation, an emotion, a memory, or just a vague sense that something wants attention.

In early sessions, we focus on building the foundational skills of somatic work—learning to notice sensation, track internal experience, and feel safe staying with what arises. These are the tools that allow deeper healing to unfold.

As your somatic awareness and capacity grow, we can begin to explore the areas most relevant to you. This might include:

  • Somatic Experiencing® for trauma resolution

  • Somatic Enneagram Coaching to explore how your type lives in the body

  • Somatic Attachment Work to shift patterns in how you relate and connect

  • Somatic Anxiety Coaching for nervous system regulation and relief

  • Spiritual Direction for those navigating deconstruction or longing for deeper connection

These aren’t separate services as much as threads we weave into the work, depending on what’s showing up in your system. You’re welcome to explore each offering in more detail.

Most sessions are done seated, chair to chair. At times, we may invite gentle movement, standing, or lying down—but only if it feels supportive. The process is spacious and adaptive. You don’t need to come with a plan—we follow your body’s cues, moment by moment.

A Note on Fit + Timing

I usually suggest starting with about six sessions. Somatic therapy Brooklyn can feel unfamiliar at first, and it takes time to build the internal skills that make the work meaningful. After that, we’ll check in—see how it’s landing, revisit your goals, and decide what’s next. This work isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. The goal is to find a pace and process that truly supports you.

What Becomes Possible with Somatic Therapy

Through somatic therapy Brooklyn, people often begin to experience life in a different way—
not because their circumstances change, but because their internal capacity does.

Some of the shifts you might notice include:

  • Feeling more present and grounded in your everyday life, rather than disconnected or overwhelmed

  • Learning how to regulate anxiety without needing to shut down or push through

  • Building resilience in your nervous system so stress doesn’t spiral into burnout

  • Interrupting cycles of people-pleasing, overfunctioning, or emotional avoidance

  • Navigating relationships with clearer boundaries and deeper self-trust

  • Recovering from trauma in a way that feels slow, safe, and body-led

  • Reconnecting with your desires, needs, and inner voice without shame or urgency

These aren’t quick fixes—they’re sustainable shifts that come from learning a bottom-up approach to healing. Instead of bypassing your body through powering through, overthinking, or relying only on medication to get by, this work invites your nervous system to actually reorganize. Over time, you’re not just coping—you’re experiencing real relief, greater resilience, and more freedom in how you move through life.

Sessions are 50 minutes and available online or in person in Brooklyn. My standard rate is $200 per session, with a limited number of sliding scale spots available based on need.

If you're curious about starting, the best next step is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to connect, explore what you're hoping for, and hear more about which area of specialty you'd like to focus on. From there, we can decide together if it feels like a good fit.

Please note: I am not a licensed therapist. I offer this work as a trained somatic practitioner with specialized training in body-based approaches to healing, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed care. If you’re currently working with a therapist, this can be a powerful complement to your ongoing support. to see if it’s a good fit.
